Lloyd heading to Winston for WFU-UNC game

Wake Forest will want to bring their A-game when they take on North Carolina this weekend. Not only is this game a big ACC match-up, the Deacs are also hosting an impressive list of recruits including Johnathan Lloyd.

It's tough to gather too much from one week of football especially when teams are coming off a long offseason and adapting to personnel changes and new guys are stepping into new roles.

But while Wake Forest struggled with Liberty at home in a 20-17 win North Carolina was convincing in a 62-0 victory over Elon. Those simple facts are reasons why it's clear the Deacs will need to be on their game.

Another reason -- Wake will be hosting a top 2014 recruit and it's his first planned visit to the school. Johnathan Lloyd is a 6-0, 185-pound dual threat quarterback/athlete from Graham (NC) Southern Alamance and his offer list is already a mile long. Wake's on it and the coaches have hinted that he's a huge local priority.

"I've talked to coach Galloway and he's told me some about the school but I haven't had a long meeting with him or anything," Lloyd remembered in our talk with him.

"He came to the school and I met him but I couldn't really talk to him. He's talked to my dad a couple of times. I know that."

Does Lloyd have any expectations for the trip or any initial impression of Wake Forest based on what he's heard from others or learned on his own over the years?

"Not really. I know they're a program that's on the up and up and I'm pretty sure they're going to continue to get better and better. They've got good talent coming in and I'm excited to see what they have to offer," Lloyd said.

He's not sure what exactly his schedule will look like in Winston-Salem this weekend but you can bet the Deacs' coaches will make it a point to approach him and make sure everything is going well.
