Davis visits Wake; Names top two

Marcus Davis kept an open mind for most of the recruiting process but he has basically narrowed his list down to two schools. Wake Forest is one. West Virginia is the other...

That's not a huge surprise for those who have followed Davis' recruitment. Sure, he considered plenty of other schools from conferences east of the Mississippi. But the Deacs and Mountaineers were stalwarts atop his list and he always seemed to like each school.

The 5-9, 170-pound athlete from American Heritage School in Delray Beach (FL) took his official visit to Wake Forest over the weekend and he was treated to a big-time win.

"I just got back from Wake Forest," Davis told DeaconSports early this week. "I thought it was a real nice school. They've got a good program and I like all the tradition down there.

"It was good to see them get the win. It came down to the very end."

There were the usual tours, meals and socialzing that goes into an official visit and Davis said he got a good feel for what campus life would be like at Wake. But one thing above all else stands out about the Deacs for Davis: coaching stability.

"They're the same guys that have been recruiting me all along," he said. "They told me they didn't want to pressure me and they told me to take other visits if I want to."

Davis plans on taking them up on that. Soon he plans to take his official visit to West Virginia.
