More competition for DB Paul

Wake Forest and Louisville were once the clear co-favorites to land Vero Beach (FL) defensive back Sean Paul. Both schools are still on Paul's mind but others are getting involved. There's another ACC school that has turned up the heat recently and that was after a coaching change that Paul was actually happy to see.

"Wake and Louisville are still up there but I have huge interest in NC State now as well. I started thinking about them when the head coach switched over from Northern Illinois," he said.

Apparently Dave Doeren had been recruiting Paul from his Mid-American Conference school. Paul had even taken an official visit to Northern Illinois.

With Doeren at NC State it's obvious that the school would be an intriguing landing spot and the Wolfpack has offered.

"My head coach is really good friends with (Doeren) and they have a good relationship. I trust my head coach and the person he is. I got to talk to him throughout the whole recruiting process and I know what type of person he is. That's why I have good interest in them."

Just don't rule Wake Forest out yet. Doeren makes NC State a contender but Jim Grobe and his staff have made it clear to Paul for a very long time that he would be a key part of their class.

"I talk to those coaches all the time so I'm pretty excited about Wake Forest as well," he said. "I'm going to take an official visit to NC State. I may set one to Louisville. Then I have one more to set but I'm not sure where that will be to."

Kentucky has also started showing interest in Paul now that Mark Stoops is their head coach.
