Virginia CB visits Wake

DaiQuan Lawrence made his first trip to Wake Forest for the Demon Deacons' Junior Day this weekend and Deacon Sports recapped the experience with him on Sunday.

Lawrence is one of the top athletes in the Chesapeake area but he doesn't have offers yet. The Deacs could change that down the road given the increasing interest he's receiving from the school.

"Coach Himebauch is my recruiter and he's cool. He's very cool. The Junior Day was pretty much what I expected. I really liked the school and I liked the campus. The coaches were really good and everything seemed kind of cool," he said.

Lawrence hasn't visited a lot of schools but the relative smallness of the Wake campus and student body is something that always stands out to visiting recruits. He said that won't be a problem at all. In fact, it's preferred.

"It was perfect. I'm not looking for too big a school anyways," he said. Himebauch has spoken with Lawrence on a couple of occasions other than the time spent with him at the Junior Day.

One of the things that stuck out to the 6-0, 170-pound corner about the weekend visit was how brief the practice was. "It was short!" he exclaimed. "It was real quick. It looked like it was real fun too."

Lawrence is making a round of college visits with a few teammates from Oscar Smith, the high school he currently attends. They stopped by Richmond recently and Virginia Tech's coaches are expecting them to attend their Junior Day on April 6.
