AL OL visits Wake

Many recruits are making the pilgrimage to Winston-Salem during there spring break to learn more about the Demon Deacon football program. Daniel Keith, a 6-foot-5, 260-pound offensive lineman from Florence (Ala.) High School took his entire family with him to the the campus last Thursday. Keith came away intrigued by what he saw and recapped his visit with

"I had a great time," said Keith. "When I got there Coach Himebauch took me on a tour of the campus and the facilities. I got to see the uniforms and the new helmets which were awesome. The campus was beautiful, absolutely incredible. Yes, it small, but really outstanding.

"Then I got to spend some time with Coach Grobe in his office. I really like everything he's doing and the direction he has the program going in."

Keith, who is being recruited by Wake Forest at offensive line with Florence teammate Cole Hardin, enjoyed getting a chance to see what Jonathan Himebauch does with his o-linemen during a spring practice.

"I love Coach Himebauch," he said. "He has the offensive line doing all the right stuff. He did a great job weighing in and giving good sound advice on all of the elements of the game.

"Watching the practice was interesting for me. They had 26 different periods. The players were going all the time and only stopped to get water during the breaks. I liked how they kept up the intensity throughout the entire practice. They ran in-between drills. It was fun to see and watch a great high-energy practice."

During his school break, Keith also visited Southern Miss, Middle Tennessee State, and Memphis. He was glad to get himself more familiarized with Wake Forest and gave a glowing review.

"Now I have more of a feel for [Wake Forest] since I've seen it," Keith said. "I'll be able to judge it better because I know more about the university than just the football program. My parents both loved the campus, but also thought the academic aspect was outstanding. My brother and sister said they loved it too.

This weekend, Keith will attend an Under Armour camp at Hoover High School in Birmingham, Ala. Florence plans on bringing a slew of junior to the event including Cole Hardin, Keith, Quade Alexander, and Kendrick Doss.
