Childress Holds One Offer

Liberty Bedford athlete Ian Childress is one of three Liberty prospects with a chance to play Division-I football. DeaconSports spoke with Childress this week to find out the latest in his recruitment.

Bedford, Virginia cornerback Chris Spinner, Childress could get offers from a host of schools in the area.

So far, Childress has one early offer, a grant-in-aid offer from James Madison. "I went to JMU and did about a 45-minute work-out, and they went ahead and offered me," Childress said. "I really like them now. Since they're the one school to offer, I'd say that's my favorite."

Along with JMU, Childress is also getting some interest from several other local schools. "I'm still getting letters from Marshall, UVa, [Virginia] Tech, Wake Forest...schools like that. Nothing big, though."

The 6'4, 201-pound prospect, who plans to wait to make a decision, currently benches 255, squats 350, and power cleans 275. He also runs a 4.75 40.
