WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Dinos Mitoglou hit 17 less 3-pointers in conference play last season than in his freshman campaign, and the Deacs missed that production.
Battling an undisclosed shoulder injury, the stretch-4 from Greece shot a mere 28.2 percent behind the arc in ACC play last year.
Demon Deacon Digest spoke with Mitoglou at Wake Forest Media Day earlier this month.
On not playing on the Bahamas trip
Mitoglou: “It was kind of weird not getting to play. In a way, it was like I wasn’t on the team. I really enjoyed it. I was still feeling it, even though I was on the bench. I was cheering for my teammates, and it was almost like I was out there playing. It was a great trip, but I was sad I didn’t play. I just went with the coach's decision.”
On how he’s feeling, his shot and if he’s fully recovered
Mitoglou: “Yes. I’m fully recovered. I’m 100 percent healthy and feeling very well.”
On excitement to start the season
Mitoglou: “I’m so excited. I can’t wait. It’s truly a bad thing to have all these practices, but no games. I can’t wait. Really. I know everybody is waiting for the season.”
Mitoglou: “The chemistry is much better. We have great kids on the team and we’re so close together. The great thing is we’re so close on the team and away from the court too. It’s kind of rare for a team.”
On how Wake will be better this season
Mitoglou: “It we can incorporate the inside game with the outside game. We have better shooters this year. He have some players who can penetrate to the basket so well. If we do both to those things well, we can achieve many things.”
