Landing Sage Surratt was a huge accomplishment for the Wake Forest coaching staff. Surratt had just been named Associate Press North Carolina Offensive Player of the Year right before his official visit to Wake, after putting up prolific, video-game like numbers on the football field. He's also the leading scorer in high school basketball this season, though he hasn't talked to Wake about playing both sports. Surratt was originally committed to Harvard, but reopened his recruitment.
Surratt (on his official visit to Wake): "I was with wide receivers coach Kevin Higgins the most and my favorite part of the trip was the one-on-one time I got to spend with him. He showed me how I would fit into their offense."
From Scout's Michael Clark: Surratt is a big target at receiver. He does a nice job of getting into his routes and finding open spots in the defense. He uses his frame to create separation, has good body control and soft hands. Surratt is more quick than fast. He very good open field runner and tough to bring down after the catch. He needs to continue to improve his speed and explosiveness. However, he's prospect with college-ready frame and has a chance to contribute early at the next level
