Zach Tom is a first team all-state by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association, first team All-District 5-5A, first team Class 4A-56A All-Metro pick as a senior. He helped Catholic High School to an undefeated 2016 season as a senior. Tom was committed to Southern Mississippi, but flipped to the Deacs in early December.
Tom: "I felt like Wake Forest was the right place for me. "To be honest, my brother played at Southern Miss and I really didn't want to have the same experience as he did. I wanted something different for college. This is the ACC. So big time football and great academics. That's why I made the decision."
Tom is an aggressive offensive lineman that likes to do more than hold rushers at bay — he looks to punish them and drive them to the ground when possible. As with nearly all offensive line commits for the Deacs, look for Tom to redshirt his freshman season and be worked hard by the strength and conditioning program ran by coach Brandon Hourigan.
