Mike Allen is one of the most coveted recruits in this cycle for the Deacs, sporting more than 30 total offers. He was named first team All-Region 8-6A, first team All-Gwinnett County by the Atlanta Journal Constitution and was selected to the Gwinnett County All-Star game and the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association state North-South All-Star game.
Allen: "I always felt something — like a unique attraction to Wake that other schools didn't have. I figured that out after my first few visits there and during the communication between the coaches and players. Wake just feels like it's my place I can shine with great teammates and great coaching staff who care about their players. Like I have said before when asked, Wake has it all. They have everything I am looking for in a school."
From Scout.com: Allen is one of those guys you want leading your team off the bus. He has an impressive frame and he still has plenty of growing to do. He has a great base to build on with great lower body strength. One of the most impressive things about his game is how he can close on the quarterback. He can improve his explosiveness and his anticipation, but once he gets off the ball, he closes in a hurry. He can set the edge with his length and he is solid against the run game. He can still improve his hands and his moves off the ball. Like many ends his size, he needs to work on staying low and improving his leverage. Allen is a true five technique who can stay on the field for three downs.
