Wake Forest Football Class of 2017 Signee: WR Jaquarii Roberson

Demon Deacon Digest takes a closer look at the newest Wake Forest signee.

Jaquarii Roberson is another two-sport star that Wake coach Dave Clawson seems to love. At 6-foot-3, Roberson is also standout on the hardwood for Hertford County High School. Roberson had 76 receptions for 1,370 yards and 15 scores in his senior season, just below his school record finish of  66 receptions for 1,480 yards and 19 touchdowns during his junior campaign. He picked the Deacs over offers from North Carolina State and East Carolina. He also had interest from North Carolina and Duke.

Roberson: "I have great relationship with coach (Dave) Clawson, (wide receivers) coach (Kevin) Higgins and (offensive coordinator) coach (Warren) Ruggiero. I really like that they're not all about football and they stress academics. Coach Clawson is a family person and he really cares about his players," Roberson said. "Regardless of where he's coached, he's won at every school and turned every program around. I have faith in him and trust coach Clawson. I'm very excited to be a part of his program and very excited that he's going to be my head coach."

From Scout's Michael Clark: Roberson is a long, lean playmaker at wide receiver. He gets off the line quickly and does a nice job of getting in and out of his routes smoothly. Roberson finds open spots in defenses well and does a great job of catching the ball with his hands away from his body. He also attacks the ball at it's highest point and is a very dangerous red-zone threat. Roberson needs to get stronger, add weight and improve his top-end speed, but he has a lot of potential and his best football is ahead of him.
