Coby Davis is a four-time All-Mid-Atlantic Conference selection at defensive back, a first team All-USA Today for the District of Columbia and second team All-Met pick in 2016 by the Washington Post. Davis had a long list of suitors, including Virginia and Army.
Davis: "I liked their staff. They were very close with me. They were genuine, too. I knew when they were recruiting me, what they were telling me, it was true. I know they had some rough years, but they are rebuilding. Coach (Dave) Clawson said he actually wants to rebuild the program, and it is something he taking seriously, and I would love to be a part of that. It helped in my decision."
From Scout's Brian Dohn: Davis has good length and is a physical corner. He is at his best when he plays press coverage and he can re-route the receiver at the snap of the ball. He needs to work on his body positioning so he does not give the inside away when he presses. His mentality in hitting is that of a safety. He form tackles well and he likes to hit. He has quick feet, but he needs to clean up his steps so he can turn more quickly. He has good speed and can turn and run with a receiver, but he needs to be a little sharper coming out of breaks. Strength needs to develop.
