Wake Forest Football Class of 2017 Signee: CB Troy Simon

Demon Deacon Digest takes a closer look at the newest Wake Forest signee.

Troy Simon was named first team All-North Fulton by the Atlanta Journal Constitution and helped Milton to regional titles in 2014 and 2015. Simon registered 75 tackles, three picks and 15 pass break-ups in his senior campaign. Simon has more than a dozen offers, including Notre Dame, California, Maryland and Illinois. He was often an outspoken proponent for Wake football on social media, and is sure to be a fan favorite.

Simon: "Wake Forest is where I felt the most comfortable, and was the perfect fit for me educationally."

From Scout: Simon is a defensive back with versatility. He has the length that could project him as a corner or free safety on the next level. He loves to mix it up and play physical. He gets his hands in there in coverage and then he likes to come in and make a tackle against the run. He has good length and that plays into his recovery in coverage and he has an above average wingspan. He can still improve his footwork and explosiveness, but he is a defensive back who could emerge as one of the best in Georgia when all is said and done for 2017.
