D.J. Taylor was a two-way star in high school that is slated to play linebacker for the Deacs. He was named first team all-state by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association in Class 1A and earned a spot on the East-West All-Star Game. Taylor was a Tennessee Mr. Football finalist and a three-time all-region selection. He rushed for more than 2,000 yards and 30 scores. He finished his career as the all-time leading rusher at Huntland High School with 5,131 yards.
