Tayvon Bowers had a big junior season, but struggled with injuries as a senior at Bishop McDevitt High Schoo. As a junior, Bowers, completed 233 passes for 3,576 yards, while throwing 42 touchdowns against just 13 picks. Wake beat out Rutgers and Akron, among others, for Bowers commitment. Bowers will have to rehab from an ACL surgery, and it's not completely clear when he will enroll at Wake.
Bowers: "I picked Wake because no one else can even compare to Wake. I wouldn't rather be anywhere else than Wake. I love the people there, the staff, and the school itself!"
From Scout's Brian Dohn: Bowers is a dual-threat quarterback who looks to throw first. He has good arm strength, but will need to improve it to be able to throw the deep out and also fit balls into tight windows 15 yards down the field when he gets to the college level. He does well with pre-snap reads and he gets rid of the ball quickly. He sees the whole field well. He needs to be more consistent with his mechanics. Bowers has the ability to tuck the ball and make big yards with his feet. He accelerates well.
