Johnson Loves Visit to Winston-Salem

AC Reynolds quarterback Ben Johnson took an unofficial visit to Wake Forest this past weekend to check out the Deacons in action against N.C. State. He came away very impressed with the Wake program. Shortly after returning home to Asheville, DeaconSports spoke with the gunslinger about his visit...

"It went real well," Ben Johnson said of his visit with Wake. "I talked to Coach Hood who is the recruiting guy for my area and the quarterbacks coach for Wake and I liked what I heard from them. They've always been really nice to me and they're great guys."

Johnson, who went to the game with his father and brother, told DeaconSports that he loved the Wake Forest offense. "I am just really impressed with Wake's offense and how they run things there," he said. "It looks complex and gets the job done. There was a lot of red in the stadium, but I still think there is some good fan support there [at Wake] too."

"I like the Wake program," he continued. "I think they're a team on the rise for sure. I think they have a chance to be very good. I also think I can fit in their offense pretty well since they're an option team and the quarterbacks throw on the run. That's two things I think I do well."

Johnson, who led his squad to a win over T.C. Roberson by going 8-11 for 93-yards this past Friday, will be in attendance at the Purdue game this upcoming Saturday.

Johnson, who displayed great numbers at the NIKE Camp in Blacksburg earlier this year, noted that his heaviest recruiting interst at this point is coming from Wake, Princeton, Harvard, Furman, and William & Mary.
