Wake Sitting High With Lewis

Lamar Lewis took a trip to Wake Forest this past weekend to check out what the Demon Deacon program had to offer. The Trinity Christian Academy running back loved what he saw.

"It went real good," Lamar Lewis said of his visit to Wake Forest. "I got a chance to look at the stadium which was real good and walked around the campus which I really liked. It was real small and you can walk in every class. It was a real good visit and the coaches were really nice. Coach Grobe was a real good person and the coaches made me feel at home."

"The players made me feel like I was on the team and they really wanted me there," Lewis continued. "I liked it a lot."

DeaconSports asked Lewis to elaborate on the coaches at Wake, one of the main reasons he loved his visit to Winston-Salem. "Coach Grobe when I first got there was one of the first to come talk to me and ask about how my flight was," he said. "Then, he's a Christian and I'm from a Christian school. And he said a lot of good things in the gametime speeches that I really like and he has a good relationship with all his players. All the coaches seem to do the same things and follow his tracks and they've been together a long time. That's what I like."

With offers from schools such as Wake, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Iowa State, and others, what schools is Lewis most interested in? "Florida State, Wake, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Iowa State, South Florida, and Central Florida," he said.

And Wake is right in the mix to get a commitment from the TCA star running back. "Wake's right at the top of my list right now but I might wait to decide," he said. "I think I can go in there maybe not start, but I think I can get in the rotation as a freshman. I want to try to compete to play right away but if that doesn't work out, I'll redshirt."

Although Lewis likes what he saw at Wake, he notes that he will take his visits before making a decision. "I haven't set any more [official visits] up yet so I don't know when they'll be," he said. "I'd like to take all my visits [before I decide] to see the best fit for me."
