Football Weekly Press Conference Quotes
Head Coach Jim Grobe On Georgia Tech's victory over NC State: "They looked awfully good. They have a young quarterback who played very well, the running back and good offensive line and receivers and defensively, nobody is running the football on those guys." On Homecoming: "I think its great for enthusiasm and excitement. For us, I think we've got a renewed energy throughout the Wake Forest area about football right now, and we don't want to disappoint anybody." On the improvement of the Wake Forest football program: "It's fun to watch our players now and watch them work and know that we're competitive. The thing that we have to remind everyone of is that we've not arrived, we're not where we want to be. We want to be a lot better than we are right now, but we've become competitive so I think we've gained everyone's respect. But each week is a tough one and we've got our work cut out for us with Georgia Tech." Senior Offensive Guard Tyson Clabo On Georgia Tech: "They just play hard and they're confident. They stop the run well and they get pressure on the quarterback. They do everything well, it's going to be a good challenge for us this weekend." On last's week bye: "I'm refreshed, and I'm hoping everyone else is too. I think we're just ready to go back out and play and get the bad taste out of our mouths that we have from two weeks ago. I would have liked to get back out there on Sunday, just to try and win, but I think we needed the time off. But the fact that we didn't have a chance to go back out and get another win for two weeks is something you have to deal with." Junior Cornerback Marcus McGruder On being from Atlanta and playing Georgia Tech: "It's always a great feeling because I know a lot of the athletes on their team. And the campus is right up the street from my house and the high school I went to." On Georgia Tech and freshman quarterback Reggie Ball: "They looked good. They have a very confident quarterback who's been making some good plays. I think he's the key to their offense." On making the big play on defense: "It's hard sometimes to pick the right time to try for a big play. We've been fortunate to make a few this year. Its just a question of can you make it or can you not? Playing cornerback, you're the last one out there. If you go for the interception and don't make the play, its probably going to be a big play or touchdown. It's a spur of the moment thing that has to do with your confidence level."
