Wake leads for sleeper CB

Few schools knew about Mays (GA) cornerback Corey Spells going into this season, but schools are learning about his talent and many are offering. He already visited one school and came back with a leader.

"Man it went well, real well," says the 5-foot-11, 171 pounder of his visit to Wake Forest over the weekend, but did he commit? "It wasn't quite that good, but I liked the whole place. I'm still wanting to take my other visits, though. I go to Wisconsin this week (12/12), and I'm going to take Christmas break to decide the other three schools I'm going to visit."

Despite the sudden surge in recruiting, he still finds everything going on right now very interesting.

"Oh man, I'm still having fun. It's exciting because everything just started to happen. I didn't play my junior year, so I didn't get recruited heavily this year. When they realized I wasn't a joke they all started to come by and watch film.

Spells has offers from Duke, Maryland, Wake Forest, Wisconsin, and Ohio. Auburn just received tape and Notre Dame is scheduled to pick up film after they watched him play in person. Who leads for the rising star?

"Right now it's Wake Forest because it's where I just visited. Wake Forest, Auburn, Florida are on top, and I'm going to have to ride it out with Duke and Wisconsin as my top-five."

So what exactly is it that schools are starting to see in Spells play this season?

"In our secondary we didn't allow any passing touchdowns when it was just three DBs (Spells, Jabari Marshall, and Demon Glanton). There was only one overall and about eight completions overall. My free safety (Glanton) and I are going to Wisconsin this weekend. We all three may go to Duke together"

"Me personally I had 5 interceptions, 49 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 safeties, 9 fumble recoveries one for a touchdown, 4 forced fumbles and 3 blocked kicks."
