Tipton Sets First Official; Waiting On Offers

Lynchburg Christian Academy (Va.) linebacker/fullback Tyler Tipton is looking for a home. A talented linebacker with great strength, Tipton's hoping someone will step up in the near future and make an offer. Where do the Deacons stand in his recruitment? <P>

"Well, I've been traveling around a little bit," Tyler Tipton said. "We went to Wake [Forest] and Marshall. Over Christmas break, Coach Baber from Pitt called and they want me to visit officially."

Tipton has set up a visit with Pitt on January 16th. "They at first, earlier in recruiting season said they wanted me at linebacker, but they got set there and are recruiting me fullback," Tipton said of Pittsburgh. I like the way the Pitt coaches have treated me. I like Pitt's facilties. Pitt sounds nice right now."

While neither Wake, Pitt, nor Marshall have stepped up and offered quite yet, all three schools are still showing interest in the Virginia linebacker. Still, other schools are involved. "My coach went to the Hargrave Postgrad combine and talked to some coaches and he gave my highlight film to Coach Rogers from Tech and someone from UNC."

After things heat up and coaches can call and visit when the dead period is over and after Tipton visits Pitt, he plans to take a hard look around and see who is interested. "Once I get this official taken care of, I'll call around schools and see if they're interested in offering and see what they're willing to do."
