January 20, 2004 / vs. Georgia Tech
Wake Forest Head Coach Skip Prosser
"The better team won tonight. The first half we didn't guard too well and in the second we guarded better. We just couldn't make a shot and you have to credit them defensively.
On Chris Paul:
"They did a good job on him. That was pretty good. We had some good shots, though, but Tech did that with Felton (rotating defenders) so we expected it."
"They guarded us well. We will look at the tape and see that we didn't do the little things to get open. They hit the big shots and we didn't respond to them. Their penetration crushed us in the first half and it all starts with our defense. We need to re-examine everyone and everything."
"Every game in this league is like this. We can't languish on this because we need to take care of the next game. Tech played a great game and you have to give them credit. It's a long season. There are 13 regular-season games left and we have to start playing much better than we have been. The crowd was great. The atmosphere in this building is just tremendous. We just didn't give them something to get excited about. We have to start playing better basketball."
Georgia Tech Head Coach Paul Hewitt
"I can't say enough of our defensive effort. Our guards shot well in the first half and in the second, we challenged them to play better defense. Our defense and free throws down the stretch helped us a lot.
On Chris Paul:
"He's playing with a lot of poise. We wanted to keep a fresh set of legs on him defensively. He does so much for Wake Forest and we just wanted to play great defense."
On Clarence Moore:
"We were having to work for a lot of shots in the second half and it was nice to have someone be open. We threw it to him and he had it going in."
On Will Bynum:
"Will will tell you that it (making his shots) happens all the time. He's so good off the dribble and shooting the three. We just need to make sure that the court is spread open, then have him take the shot. He's just making the plays. He's a great player in the open court."
Junior Vytas Danelius
On getting more playing time: "The more I play, the more confident I get. But I definitely need to practice more."
"We need to study our mistakes. Every game has been tough and will be tough. That's why the ACC is the best conference in America."
Freshman Chris Paul
On the game: "We have to learn to keep the ball in front of us. They got the best of us tonight and we played sloppy. They are a very good team. We didn't execute well tonight. They are proving that road wins are huge for the ACC."
Sophomore Eric Williams
On the game: "We need to jump over these losses and move on. We had fire and intensity but something else was lacking tonight. The game film will show. I made mistakes but I thought I played well and finished when I needed to finish."
