Deacs March On To Sweet Sixteen

Wake Forest defeated Manhattan 84-80 behind a marvelous effort by freshman guard Chris Paul.

Wake Forest guard Chris Paul scored 29-points and led the Deacons in points, blocked shots, rebounds, steals, assists, minutes, and field goal percentage to help lead Wake Forest to an 84-40 victory over Manhattan on Saturday.

"I thought Chris Paul was the best guard we've played against all year, literally the best player we saw all season," Manhattan coach Bobby Gonzalez said after the game.

But Paul's effort was not without help. Jamaal Levy (12), Vytas Danelius (12), and Taron Downey (10) also scored in double figures to help the Deacs to victory.

With the win, Wake Forest pushes their record to 21-9 and advances to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time in eight years.

Wake Forest will face #1 seed St. Joseph's in the third round.
