"(Clemson) coach Tommy Bowden told us a while back that everyone who sees C.J.'s tape will offer him a scholarship," North Augusta coach Drew Hummel said. "So far, that just about has been the case. I'm sure at some point, however, someone who requested a tape won't offer a scholarship. But we haven't met that someone yet."
Byrd talked on Tuesday to Kentucky recruiting coordinator Joker Phillips, who said the Wildcats are interested in him as WR but would also give him a try at FS.
"You ask me if I'm surprised about having 20 scholarship offers? Heck, I am still surprised over the first offer," Byrd said. "I've just always tried to play football as hard as I can, I have been blessed to play with some great, great teammates and North Augusta promotes its athletes like no other school around ... by sending out tapes and calling recruiters.
"Big Byrd" will make an unofficial on Wednesday to the University of Florida.
