Hutton Looking For Strong Academics

Thomas Hutton figures to be one of the most highly recruited athletes in the state of Kansas in 2004. What the massive offensive lineman will be looking for out of the group of schools making their way by Wichita Collegiate this month is who offers the best cominbation of football and academics.

"I'm really looking for a school that is strong in academics," said Hutton. "I plan to major in either pre-law or computer information services."

Two schools that Hutton made visits to earlier this spring happened to be on the east coast, and both have outstanding academics.

"My coach called Virginia to set-up a visit out there, and I really liked the campus. They are one of the nation's most prestigous academic schools, and they haev a beautiful campus. Plus the coaches were great. I believe I may be attending their camp this summer."

"I also took a trip out to Boston College, and it was very similar to Virginia. They are building a new football complex, which looks outstanding. I'm an avid weight lifter, and there new real weight room really excited me."

Hutton also stated he would be attending camps at both Kansas and Kansas State, and that Oregon remained a possibility.

One other east coast school has caught his attention while the Jayhawks and one other Big 12 program made their stops by the high school this morning.

"I have interest in Wake Forest as they are another outstanding academic institution. Oklahoma stopped by my school this morning, and Kansas shortly followed. I have a lot of interest in both Kansas and Kansas State, but I'm not leaning in-state nor out of state. I just want to check out my options and see what school best fits me."

Hutton plans to attend the Nike Camp in Atlanta, Georgia next weekend.
