Brown Back in Action

Everette Brown, a defensive end and tight end from Wilson (N.C.) Beddingfield, received clearance on Wednesday that will open up his camp schedule quite a bit.

"Today, I got cleared by the doctor fully so I could start lifting weights and working out at camps," says the 6-foot-4, 235 pounder who has soared in the new North Carolina state rankings, due out next week, to the number five position. "They had to work on a ligament in my hand."

With rehab finished, Brown has started his work in the weightroom, and camps start very soon.

"This Monday, my coach, my quarterback, and I are going up to Penn State for a three-day camp. As a team, we have two team camps in July, one at NC State and one at Wake Forest, and I'd like to go to the UNC senior camp."

The camps will help Brown make a decision, but he wants to stay completely open to as many schools as possible. With double-digit offers, that is tough to do.

"It's getting closer to where I am going to narrow it down. I like the two Florida schools, and I saw where you guys had Miami not offering me, but they offered me in writing. Then I'm liking Duke, (N.C.) State, (North) Carolina. I like Penn State, Virginia Tech, and I'm still liking Tennessee and Wake Forest. They are the teams that stand out to me."

While Brown is not limiting himself to those schools, they are safe for making the cut right now. They all meet some part of his criteria for a college.

"I'm looking for the business school the most, but the whole school overall. I like the not-too-big population where you have a city near. I am looking to where I can help the football program and where it can help me in life."

Brown is very personable, and he has made many friends from North Carolina in the short time he has traveled to junior days and photo shoots.

"I met Derek Nicholson and the running back from New Bern, Montarrio Hardesty, and a few local guys at some off-the-field events. I talk to Stephan Virgil from Rocky Mount a bit, and talk to Re'Quan Boyette some on the phone, too."

Brown has a 3.2 GPA and took the ACT last weekend.
