Ghee Makes Decision

Brandon Ghee was a big target for several schools this year. With a ton of potential as a cornerback for Fayetteville (N.C.) Jack Britt High School, Ghee decided that family was first.

"He has committed to Wake Forest, and I know that he was supposed to call the coaches last night and let them know," says Jack Britt head coach Richard Bailey. "It was a difficult decision for him, and he was torn a little bit, but it really came down to the fact that it would be a little bit easier for his parents to see him play and not have to go to separate venues on Saturdays."

In the end, Ghee picked Wake Forest in a tight race over Virginia Tech and Clemson.

"He felt a better relationship with the defensive back coach at Wake just because his brother played there, felt comfortable with him, and had been around him a little more than the Virginia Tech defensive backs coach. That is not a knock on Virginia Tech coaches, just a time standpoint, and he wanted to commit before taking any official visits in the spring when he could have gotten to know the DB coach at Virginia Tech a little better.

"Just his parents being able to see him play and his father not having to go to Virginia Tech and mother to Wake, and alternate and that kind of stuff. They would be splitting their parents up every Saturday, not so much that he wanted to play where his brothers were at, but that he wanted to make it easier on his parents to see him play."
