Birdsong A Demon Deacon

To say Nashville (Tenn.) Montgomery Bell offensive lineman Joseph Birdsong was impressed with his Wake Forest official visit would be an understatement. The 6-foot-6, 270-pounder enjoyed his stay so much, that from the time he got home, he had to fight off urges to commit. He finally gave into those urges.

"I committed," stated Joseph Birdsong. "Everything went well with the visit. The coaches were great; I have a great relationship with those guys. It's just a great school. I'm always guaranteed a great education and that was an important factor for me. I love the campus and I just think it was a good place."

Apparently, Birdsong's intentions seemed inevitable to the Deacons' coaching staff, who felt - based on his responses during the visit - Birdsong would eventually be a Demon Deacon.

"I called Coach [Dean] Hood and told him," explained Birdsong. "He was excited. They were talking about how they were just waiting for me to commit. I knew I was so it's a good deal. I'm really excited."

Birdsong also received offers from Mississippi, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt, but only set up an official visit with Ole Miss, that has been canceled.

With the closing of his recruitment, Birdsong now shifts his focus to his senior season and helping Montgomery Bell win their third straight state championship.
