DeGeare Decides

As Kernersville (N.C.) Glenn offensive tackle Chris DeGeare left the Wake Forest campus sporting a new Demon Deacon jacket as well as a smile from ear-to-ear, it was pretty obvious the 6-foot-4, 320-pounder had experienced a great time on his second official visit.

However, nobody envisioned DeGeare ending his recruitment early with a verbal commitment to Wake Forest with two official visits left on his schedule.

"I really like the academics," explained DeGeare. "And their football program is on the rise. They gave Florida State a hard time. They lost a lot of their games in overtime or by three points. I really don't think there is a better coaching staff then Wake Forest. They care about you personally; they care about you more than just football."

As for the visit, DeGeare loved every second of it, from the heartbreaking Florida State loss to the campuses environment.

"The trip went well," remarked DeGeare. "I had fun at the game. Everybody was real nice to me and everything. I got to tour around campus and talk to the academic advisors. Pretty much everything went good."

DeGeare, who took an official visit to Virginia Tech a few weeks back, has canceled his upcoming official visits to South Carolina and Tennessee and plans to concentrate firmly on his senior season at Glenn High School.
