2006 Target Likes WFU's Location

With the Wake Forest's 2005 recruiting class quickly filling up, the coaching staff will begin to place more of their efforts on next year's crop of talent.

An in-state prospect who certainly will garner the interest of many programs is Catawba (.N.C.) Bandys linebacker Matthew Woodlief a 5-foot-11, 225-pounder who claims a 4.60-second forty-yard dash time as well as a strong nose for the ball.

"Well, Virginia Tech, UNC, and Wake Forest, they have been talking to me," stated Woodlief. "Sending me letters and stuff, mostly Wake Forest. They are asking me to come visit and stuff."

Woodlief apparently took the Wake Forest coaching staff up on their offer and attended the Virginia Tech game. He also attended the Demon Deacon's summer football camp.

Wake Forest's location will certainly play into their favor as Woodlief isn't looking to venture too far when it comes time to select his future college.

"I like their football program," explained Woodlief. "I like all their coaches and stuff. They're real nice. It's just a great school to visit. It's like only 45 minutes away from my house and my mom wants me to stay close to home."

A starter since his freshman year, Woodlief is averaging 10 tackles-per-game. As a freshman, Woodlief earned second team All-Area honors and was named to the All-Area first team as a sophomore.
