Conley Talks About Wake Visit

It was a monumental weekend for the Wake Forest basketball team. Not only did they come out on top of one of the best college basketball games of the young season, but the Deacons also had three of the best 2006 recruits on hand in Winston-Salem.

Three number one rated players, at their respective positions, were in Joel Coliseum on Saturday afternoon. Mike Conley, Daequan Cook, and Greg Oden were on hand to witness a Wake Forest victory over Texas by a score of 89-88.

The trio play AAU ball together and all three have been listing Wake Forest among their favorites, with Conley mentioning Wake as his early leader.

"It was real good, one of the best games I've seen this year, and it just happened to be one of my favorite schools," Conley exclaimed.

This wasn't the first time the Conley visited Wake's campus, he was in Winston-Salem earlier in the year during Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions.

Someone Conley has looked up too, throughout the recruiting process is Chris Paul. He has even mentioned that he would love to follow in Paul's footsteps, and Conley got chance to hang out with him Saturday night.

"We hung out with Chris Paul and some of the players last night, and basically staying at the hotel," Conley said when asked what the visit entailed.

Conley is also looking at Ohio State, Illinois, Arkansas, and Michigan State. The 6-foot-1 point guard was impressed with the Deacon crowd.

"They were very exciting they were running around, it was stuff I hadn't seen before," Conley said when asked about the crowd at Joel Coliseum. "It was really fun and I liked it a lot."

The crowd even chanted at Conley and his two buddies as they took in the action.

"Yeah a couple people did, and fans were screaming and chanting future Deacons when we walked by," Conley said.

When asked about the crowd's chants he responded, "Yeah it's neat, we like it a lot it's showing me how much they like basketball up here.
