Arlington Country Day 63, Towson Catholic 53 (2OT) Dudley 68, Montrose Christian 64 Miller School, Martinsburg Gulf Shores Academy 90, Blue Ridge Academy 89 (2OT)
Gerald Green, SG, Gulf Shores: The star senior got up 20 3s and made 8 of them with Gulf Shores needing every last one. When the game – thankfully – ended with the 1 a.m. hour approaching, Green had 45 points and a hard fought 1-point win. With his backcourt mate Jovan Adams struggling, his offense was needed and he made 14 of his 33 shots to go with 6 rebounds. The good news for Oklahoma State fans is that there weren't any NBA birddogs in the building to see the game. On this night Green's shot was falling from downtown and he confidently kept his team in the game with his stroke. Also made 9 of 11 free throws.
Kevin Swinton vs. Uche Echefu: The battle between a pair of Top 100 power forwards was claimed early by Swinton who got off to a murderous start. He had 15 points and 6 boards in the first half and put Echefu on the bench with 3 fouls. He was the aggressive out of the gates and his intensity was noticeable. Fifteen seconds in the 3rd quarter Echefu was hit with his 4th foul and sat until midway through the 4th where he would make another brief appearance. It didn't take Swinton long to join Echefu as he picked up No. 4 with 3:52 left in the 3rd. The final stats had Swinton with 21 points (8-16 FG, 9 rebounds) and Echefu with 4 points (1-7 FG, 4 rebounds).
Laurynas Mikalauskas, PF, Blue Ridge: He fought foul trouble and bouncy athletes inside all night long and did a nice job. He finished with 28 points and 14 rebounds and really was a presence in the paint for his team.
Greivas Vasquez, SG, Montrose: The young man has a definite feel for the game and is a multi-threat player as a passer, shooter and playmaker. He's a bonafide stat stuffer with high-major potential. On this occasion, the Venezuelan torched whoever they put on him. Vasquez didn't have the best night from the perimeter (8-for-20) but he made plays and that's what kept Montrose Christian in the game.
William Graves, SF, Dudley: On this occasion, Graves did his damage from the charity stripe where he went 9-for-13. He busted a pair of 3s and hit 2 mid-range shots to go with 6 rebounds. In the final minutes of the ball game he made 7-of-8 from the line.
Josue Soto, PG, Arlington Country Day: He had some added pressure with Huertas sitting on the sidelines with an injury and he delivered the ACD offense. He made the front end of a 1-and-1 to get them into overtime where he would go on and make some key buckets to ice it. Led the team with 24 points.
Malcolm Delaney, PG, Towson Catholic: It was a valiant effort from T.C. and they probably should have won the game in regulation but couldn't seal it. Delaney hit a contested baseline jumper that even looked like the game winner but it didn't stand. On 9-for-21 from the field this scoring point man put up a game-high 25 points.
