Peterson: Two-Sport Athlete

Thousands of athletes play two sports at the high school level. Few can compete in two sports at the college level. Demon Deacon offensive line commitment Tyler Peterson is one of those few.

"Yes sir, I'm still signing and everything is looking good," Tyler Peterson said. "[I'll sign at] 2:50. That's when school gets out."

Though Peterson is happy with his decision, his parents are also extremely pleased that he will be a Demon Deacon. "My parents were extremely happy," he said. The educational value coming out of Wake Forest is phenomenal. Of all the schools I looked at, it couldn't be matched. After seeing it, talking to the coaches from late August on and talking with Coach Lobo and the other coaches, that really just helped me commit early."

Another factor that led to his decision to attend Wake Forest was the opportunity for him to compete on the track team as well. "Actually, I'm going to throw shot put and discus at Wake also," he noted. "That was also a big draw. I'd talked to other schools, Kansas, Iowa State, and Wyoming about both sports and they were all pretty willing to let me do both sports but Coach Williams wanted it and so did [the Wake football coaches."]

Peterson met with those football coaches just this past Wednesday when Coach Lobo and Coach Grobe visited him in Nebraska. Peterson has also continued to talk to the Wake coaches on a weekly basis.
