Whitley's Record Season Grabs Interest

Norman Whitley of Rockingham (N.C.) Richmond Senior just wants to stick with what works. After posting 2,666 yards and 33 touchdowns on just 290 carries, the 5-foot-11, 180-pound tailback saw a strong rise in interest level from division I-A programs. Whitley feels if he continues on the same path interest will turn into scholarship offers.

"The main thing is I just want to get myself prepared," stated Whitley. "I want to go out there and have another great season and let everything else do the work."

Clemson, Wake Forest, Oregon, Tennessee, Virginia, Nebraska, North Carolina, and UCLA have all took notice of Whitley's record breaking season last year and have already begun to recruit him.

Whitley has vowed to keep an open mind throughout the process – at least until he starts to see coaches and campuses in-person.

"There really aren't any schools that I like simply because I haven't talked to anyone," explained Whitley. "I think once I talk to coaches then I'll have a better picture of where I want to go, because I think the coaching staff is going to help me make my decision."

Whitley will be talking to coaches this weekend when he makes his first unofficial visit to Charlottesville for Virginia's Junior Day. He then will be in Chapel Hill on March 6th to be in attendance for the UNC-Duke game.
