It has been noted several times already that the quarterback Class of 2005 was lacking in sheer numbers, but the Class of 2006 looks to be back in a big way. Zach McDowell of the Harrison Hoyas in Kennesaw Ga. is another talented signal caller that will make the lists of several teams across the country.
McDowell was named Honorable Mention All-State and 1st Team All-County after throwing for 2,317 yards on 164/255 with 25 touchdowns against only eight interceptions. At 6-3 and 200 pounds, McDowell has an excellent frame, and he has peeked the interest of several schools already.
"I've been getting letters from Ole Miss, Maryland, Auburn, Clemson, Wake Forest, Wisconsin, Louisville, and Notre Dame" said McDowell. "Ole Miss was my favorite team growing up. I'm interested right now in Alabama, Ole Miss, Maryland and Wake Forest."
McDowell is a standout on the field, but he is also a 3.8 student in the classroom. McDowell will be one of several southern quarterbacks to be recruited by top teams across the region this year.
