Holmes Opens It Back Up

Aaron Holmes, Scout.com's No. 45 prospect in the Class of 2006, needs more time. Citing a hurried fall decision, the Sunshine State standout says he's opening his recruitment.

Aaron Holmes finished up his junior season at St. Petersburg Catholic in Florida by leading his team deep into the playoffs before falling to eventual state champion Florida Academy. Following the conclusion of his season, Holmes reached another conclusion: he needs to open his recruitment back up.

"I just talked it over with my coach and my mom about how I could look at my other options," Holmes said. "I felt like I might have rushed things. I really liked N.C. State but I felt like I should look at other schools."

And that's exactly what the 6-foot-4 shooting guard is going to do. He'll run with the Tallahassee Wildcats this spring and summer and he'll pay attention to who wants to get involved with him.

Holmes rattled off a laundry list of schools that he'd be interested in chatting with including Wake Forest, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Maryland, LSU, Memphis, Texas Tech and Tennessee, depending on who the volunteers to coach in Knoxville.

"I'm pretty much wide open right now," Holmes said. "I really like schools like Kansas and Texas but I didn't get looks from them yet. Oklahoma State was giving me looks. I'm just trying to have a great summer and help my team win some of these tournaments and get my stock up."
