Wake Close to Offering Linebacker

Although Maryland, North Carolina, Marshall, Ohio State, and Duke are recruiting Logan Buchanan the hardest, it's Wake Forest that seems most likely to extend a scholarship offer to the 6-foot, 195-pound linebacker from Mocksville (N.C.) Davie.

"I went over to Wake Forest a couple weeks ago and they are probably the most interested in me out of everybody," said Logan Buchanan. "We went up there to watch them practice.

"[The Wake Forest coaches] really like how I play and they said they have two more offers to give out at linebacker. They said they are going to evaluate me some more, but they said right now it looks pretty good that they're going to offer me pretty soon."

Buchanan admits he's unlikely to commit at the sight of a Deacon scholarship offer, but says he's very interested in Wake Forest.

"I like Wake Forest a lot right now," said Buchanan. "Wake Forest is convenient [close to home] and it looks like there I'll be getting the quicker playing time."

In addition to attending a spring practice, Buchanan is fresh off an unofficial visit to Winston-Salem for the Demon Deacons' spring game. Former teammate and 2005 signee Ted Randolph accompanied Buchanan, who enjoyed his stay and what he saw from the Wake Forest defense.

"They looked pretty good," said Buchanan. "They act like their defense isn't that strong, but their defense looked good – [the defense] actually won."

Buchanan will be back in Winston-Salem this summer for the Deacons' camp. He also plans to attend a camp at North Carolina.

On his way to all-conference honors, Buchanan recorded 199 tackles – including 17 for a loss – eight sacks and forced two fumbles.
