Deacons Offer Frye

When students are called out of class it usually isn't good. However, when Alex Frye was called out of class Thursday he was greeted by the Demon Deacons' coaching staff, who had his second scholarship offer in hand.

"They were visiting my school to possibly see me practice, but I had a track meet today," said Alex Frye who also holds an offer from Duke. "They called me up to the coach's office and offered."

Being in the midst of a hectic track season, Frye's time on his recruitment has been limited. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound safety from Fayetteville (N.C.) Britt is, however, interested in Wake Forest and the possibility of reuniting with a former teammate and close friend at the collegiate level.

"I really like the school because one of my teammates Brandon Ghee has already signed there," said Frye. "His brother plays safety and he's doing very well in spring practices. In another year he'll be a senior so it's a very good possibility that I would get an early shot at playing time."

Frye has yet to visit the Deacons' campus, but believes by the end of the summer he will have visited Winston-Salem more than a handful of times.

"My team has a 7-on-7 and other camps going to attend there," said Frye. "I'm probably going to view the campus with Brandon Ghee sometime this summer."

During's All-American Combine, Frye posted one of the more impress performances. He recorded a 4.62-second forty-yard dash on grass, 4.28-second twenty-yard shuttle, vertically leaped 38.5 inches, and broad jumped 116 inches.

On a high school roster full of potential division I-A recruits, Frye is the most talented. Last season he picked off five passes and accumulated 55 tackles.
