Walker Interested In Wake Forest

Willie Walker turned the heads of many onlookers at the Tournament of Champions at the end of May. A 6' guard, Walker proved that he belongs among the top point guards in the class of 2006.

"I played well [at the TOC,] but it's not even how I play, as long as we get the W, I'm happy," Willie Walker said of his performances."

Walker, who lists Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Miami, Ohio State, N.C. State, notes that he has heard some from Wake Forest and would be interested in hearing more from the Demon Deacon staff.

"I hear from them here and there and my coach talks to them a lot," Walker said. "As long as they're interested in me, I'm very interested in them. I like the way Chris Paul played for them. I like the style of play he got to play. He got a lot of freedom out there and I like that."

Although Walker has put together some impressive performances as of late, he knows he has room to improve as well. "Really, when my shot's not falling I can get to the bucket real well and dishing off to my teammates, that's what I do well," Walker said. "[As far as what I'm] working on – being a better leader for my teammates. They say my best thing is making other people better but I'm not as vocal out there. They told me I need to work on being vocal, that and my defense."

With continued improvement, expect a host of top schools to recruit Walker harder and harder. Walker notes that he has no definitive timeframe for making his decision at this point.
