Diamond Deacs Beat New Orleans Twice

Led by Kyle Sleeth, the WFU baseball team takes out New Orleans in Louisiana Saturday afternoon. Sunday, the Deacs nipped New Orleans 6-5.

Wake Forest improved to 13-2 overall on the 2002 baseball season with two close victories over New Orleans this weekend in Louisiana.

On Saturday, Wake Forest's Kyle Sleeth pitched eight scoreless innings and reliever Dave Bush came in to pitch a scoreless ninth inning, helping the Deacs to a 2-0 win. The Deacs' runs came off hits from Jamie D'Antona and Adam Bourassa.

Sunday afternoon, Wake took scored a run in the top of the eighth that would prove to be the winning run in a 6-5 win. The Deacs got homeruns from outfielders Steve LeFaivre and Ryan Hubbard in the victory.

Wake Forest will face off with New Orleans again Monday night at 6:30 central time, 7:30 EST. Tim Morley is expected to pitch for the Deacons.
