Recruitment Getting "Crazy" For Crews

It is amazing what one year can do for a basketball player. Last year at this time Duke Crews was being recruited, just not by every school in the country. Crews is no longer a sleeper, and that became apparent when he rattled off over 15 schools that compete year in and year out in the nation's top conferences.

Among the schools in pursuit of Duke Crews are Cincinnati, Illinois, Xavier, Rutgers, St. Johns, Georgetown, Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Florida, Florida State, Texas, Oklahoma State, and Michigan.

Crews, who runs with Boo Williams during the summer, exploded on to the scene this year. His tear began at the Boo Williams Invitational and it has continued through NBPA camp and at the Peach Jam.

"It's getting crazy. It's just crazy," Crews said about his recruitment. "I've basically got every school in the country on me right now."

But being recruited by everyone doesn't seem to bother Crews at all.

"It's cool with me, a year ago I wasn't getting recruited at all," Crews said. "There isn't too much different about me. I still play the same way. I mean everyone gets better over the years. I don't know I guess people just took notice this year."

At Nike All-American Camp Crews was measured at 6-foot-7, and while a tad bit undersized for a power forward, he does all the little things that coaches love. Not to mention he is one of the most athletic players in his class. He runs the floor, rebounds, and dunks with as much authority as anyone at the high school level.

Crews has already taken an official visit to Xavier and he said that he plans to take more visits after he breaks down his list. But it doesn't seem like he will be breaking down the list anytime soon, because he wants to develop some relationships with the coaches and determine which school will be the best fit for him.

"I really just started getting recruited. So I just got to get to know all of the coaches," Crews explained. "I can't just follow up with one school because of the name; I've got to get to know them."
