Raleigh's Anthony "P.J." Tucker is one of the many forward prospects Wake coach Skip Prosser is looking at for 2003. Averaging over 20 points and ten boards per game, Tucker had a fabulous junior season.
So far, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Clemson, East Carolina and UNC-Wilmington have all shown major interest and ECU has offered him a scholarship.
At this point, Tucker is not a recruit that is high a-top Coach Prosser's wish-list. A great summer could change that, however.
It is also rumored that Wake will visit with Tucker this week. DeaconSports will try to get in touch with Tucker later in the week to see his thoughts on the Wake Forest program.
Anthony Tucker busted his tail with the NC Red Storm last summer. He was the team's most productive player and no one hustled the way he did. The 6-5 member of the Class of 2003 built on his performance at the AAU Nationals and rode the energy all season long.
He averaged 23 points and 13 rebounds for Tommy Moore's Raleigh Enloe team. Moore said his star put up six games with 20 or more rebounds last season. "We never had guys that get 20 rebounds in a game. Chris (Wilcox) had 18 his first game here. PJ did it twice as a sophomore."
Wake Forest and Clemson from the ACC are recruiting him. In-state East Carolina and UNC-Wilmington have their lines in the water as well.
"PJ has some work to do in the classroom, but I think he can do it," Moore said. Tucker will again travel with the NC Red Storm this summer. He'll also attend the Nike All-American Camp in Indianapolis.
