If you were at Hooks Stadium on Friday afternoon, you would have thought a pitching battle was forming after two and a half scoreless innings. But, two of the most potent offenses exploded for 19 runs in the remainder of a game that was anything but a pitching duel.
No runs were more important then Ryan Johnson's two RBIs in the bottom of the ninth inning. His double drove in Jamie D'Antona and Stephen Ghutzman to give the Demon Deacons a 10-9 comeback win. Getting the win was David Bush (2-0), who pitched one scoreless inning.
Wake Forest improved to 15-2 (1-0) and look to improve upon their #11 NCAA rank. The Demon Deacons have now won 4 straight by an average margain of victory of only 1.25 runs. With the loss, Georgia Tech drops to 14-2 (0-1). Game two is tomorrow in Hooks Stadium at 1:30.
