Deacs Split With Georgia

Wake Forest and Georgia split two games with each other on the baseball Diamond Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons in Winston-Salem.

Tuesday afternoon in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Wake Forest's baseball team improved to an amazing 17-2 overall with a 11-9 victory over the Georgia Bulldogs.

Freshman pitcher Brian Bach, a hometown product from Mount Tabor High, picked up the win for the Deacons. Bach pitched almost seven innings while giving up just four earned runs.

Ryan Johnson led the Deacon offense with three hits.

On Wednesday, the Georgia Bulldogs got payback on the Deacs with a rain-shortenend 9-6 loss. Deacon Ben Comer was hammered in the third inning when the Bulldog offense drove on eight runs on him.

Wake Forest closed the gap to 9-6 in the seventh. However, after the seventh inning, the game was called to a close as rain continued to fall on the Hooks Stadium field.

With the loss, Wake Forest falls to 17-3 overall. The Deacs head to Raleigh to face N.C. State Friday afternoon at 3:00.
