Ingersoll Attends Wake Positions Camp

With the verbal commitment of Vince Jacobs to North Carolina, Wake Forest loses a big tight end target for their 2006 recruiting class. Michael Ingersoll, a 6-foot-4, 260-pound jumbo athlete from Matthews (N.C.) Butler, is a top candidate to fill that void.

Ingersoll attended the Demon Deacons' positions camp Sunday to get in a workout and also see where he currently stands with Wake Forest.

"It went really well," said Ingersoll. "They said they are very interested in me, but they haven't given me an official offer yet. They told me they are looking for one tight end and my name is still on the table, but they are very interested."

Ingersoll, who claims offers from Vanderbilt and Akron, has also attended camps at Michigan, North Carolina, and Virginia, but Sunday's camp at Winston-Salem was slightly different.

"It was an all position camp for all grade levels," said Ingersoll. "It wasn't just specifically a senior camp; there were all grade levels there. I was with the tight ends the whole time."

Although so much is still up in the air with his recruitment, Ingersoll considers Wake Forest along with North Carolina and Vanderbilt as his favorites.

"I like Wake Forest," said Ingersoll. "I like the program. I like that they are up-and-coming in the ACC and I feel the ACC is one the best conference in the country. And with Wake Forest being a private school, the education and the degree that I would get from there would put me in a position after college to do pretty much anything that I wanted."

A very athletic tight end, at the Shrine Bowl Combine, Ingersoll ran the 40-yard dash in 5.00 seconds and 20-yard shuttle in 4.60 seconds – amazing times for a man his size.
