Ex-Deacon Football Star Proehl Re-signs

Wake Forest University alum Ricky Proehl signed a one year deal with the St. Louis Rams to continue his NFL career there next season.

After a college career where he compiled 188 receptions, 2,949 receiving yards, and 25 touchdowns, WFU alum Ricky Proehl was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in 1990. Twelve years later, he has signed another contract to continue his NFL career yet another season.

Proehl re-signed with the St. Louis Rams this past week. The wide receiver, a twelve year veteran, has signed a deal worth $775,000 for one season. Although known by many for his amazing catch in the NFC Championship game in the 1999-2000 season that propelled the Rams to an NFL Championship, he has always been a stable contributor for each of the four teams he has played for in his NFL career.
