Audibles: Jim Grobe

Wake Forest football coach Jim Grobe is pleased with what he has seen from his players on the field this fall. Still, Grobe has to be even more happy with what has gone on in the classroom.

"It's been a good year for us really," Jim Grobe said after practice on Tuesday. "All of our freshmen guys, our signees from last year, qualified. All the freshmen we had in summer school summer session all did fine. We had no eligibility issues with the upperclassmen this year either."

With the academics all in line, Coach Grobe's players have been able to focus their full attention on the football field. "Things are going well," Grobe said. "Our guys are real competitive. We've got real good enthusiasm and I think we've got better talent than any year since I've been here.

"We've got to get the young guys in a lot of situations," he continued. "That's what we're doing now, trying to do a lot of different down and distance situations, trying to get the guys comfortable with knowing where they are on the field and what has to get done."
