Deacs Lead For Florida WR

Nease High School in Florida is home to one of the top high school football teams in the nation. With several DI prospects including one of the nation's top five senior quarterbacks in Tim Tebow, Nease has been rated one of the nation's best and has been featured on ESPN. Thursday, 3-star Nease High wide receiver Ryan Ellis spoke with DeaconSports about his recruitment.

While Ryan Ellis has yet to receive an official offer from Wake Forest, that offer may not be too far away according to the 6'2, 180-pound receiver out of Nease High School in St. Augustine, Florida. If that happens, don't be surprised if he becomes a Demon Deacon in the near future.

"I've got [offers] from Kansas State and Southern Miss and the offensive coordinator at North Carolina State said I had an offer but they said the head coach there had to approve it so I don't know what's going on there."

While those schools have offered, Ellis has narrowed his list to three schools that he is primarily focusing his attention on. "My top three are Wake Forest #1, Kansas State #2, and Florida #3," he noted. Ellis went on to talk about each of his three favorites.

"I'll start at the end and that's with Florida. With Florida, they're a good football team and they pass the ball a lot. Kansas State is a school that I haven't had a chance to visit yet, but they are a good program so we'll see how it plays out. With Wake Forest, me and my coach have been talking a lot about it and it is the #1 academic school of all the schools I'm looking at. They have great academics there and that's primary thing that you go to college for."

According to Ellis, he keeps in close contact with Coach Lobo, speaking with him several times per week. He also believes that Wake Forest is close to offering him and, if the Deacs do offer, Ellis will likely commit on the spot. "If Wake Forest did offer, and I think they are close to doing that, I think I would commit right now, probably in the same conversation," Ellis said.

While Ellis has already taken several unofficial visits to schools including Alabama, Florida, Wake Forest, and N.C. State, he has yet to schedule any official visits. He does plan to take an official to Wake Forest, however. "I'll definitely take an official visit to Wake Forest," he noted.

Stay tuned to DeaconSports in the coming weeks for the latest on Ryan Ellis and for more Wake Forest football recruiting.
