At 6-foot-2 and 295 pounds, Mechanicsville (Va.) Atlee standout offensive lineman Matt Miller is still waiting on his first scholarship offer, but it seems to be real close. "I went to camps at Wake Forest, Richmond, Duke, and William & Mary," he said. "I thought I did really well at those places." Miller, who had May recruiting calls from all those schools plus Tennessee, Maryland, Virginia Tech, and Syracuse, said he's thinking of his top five right now. "Right now, they are Wake Forest, Maryland, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, and probably William & Mary," he said. "Virginia Tech's close to home and I like them a lot. I also like it at Syracuse. I like their program and they're always successful plus they have good academics." Miller said he does have one leader right now. "Wake Forest is probably No. 1 on my list right now," he said. "But things can change. I'm just waiting to see who will offer me."
Matt will be attending the Wake Camp on June 2nd. He is also going to the Duke camp June 1st. Earlier this month, Matt set the Virginia state deadlift record at the AAU Virginia state meet. He competed in the 16&17/319 pound class lifting 575 pounds. The previous record was 550 pounds. He won his class and qualified for the AAU World Championships to be held in October.
Maryland, Virginia, Duke, Tennessee, Richmond, Lehigh, William & Mary have visited his school. Pittsburgh, UConn, Syracuse,and most of the ACC schools including the Deacs have indicated they will most likely be stopping in May.
This past season, Matt put on a show at Atlee High in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Matt had 70 tackles, five sacks, 12 tackles for loss, and three fumble recoveries defenisvely during the 2001 season. Matt is also an offensive lineman.
Also, he a track star as he was the District Champion in the shot put and the discus his sophomore season.
This summer, Matt will attend the Syracuse, Tennessee, Virginia and Wake Forest football camps.
Early on, his school list is as follows: Tennessee, Syracuse, Virginia, Maryland, Wake Forest, Penn State, Indiana, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, and Stanford.

Matt Miller is a 6'4" 290 pound tackle from Atlee High School in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Miller, an individual who has started since his freshman year, has been getting a lot of looks from D-1 schools lately including Wake Forest.
Matt attended Junior Day at Wake Forest and he and his father were very impressed with the Wake Forest program as well as the campus.
Miller, an excellent student in the classroom as well, is receiving attention from well over 20 D-1 programs already. In-state schools Virginia and Virginia Tech have already contacted him along with Maryland, Syracuse, Penn State, and others.
While Miller was thoroughly impressed with WFU, other schools including UVa and Syracuse will be hard to beat. Both schools are already making strong pushes for Miller's services and Syracuse is rumored to be close to offering Miller a scholarship.
Matt is slated to attend the Nike Camp in April at Penn State. He is also scheduled to be going to OL/DL camp at Wake in June.
