Eustis, Florida center Wesley Green knows about Wake Forest. In fact, he knows lots about Wake Forest as he is the son of former Wake Forest star Kenny Green. The elder Green spent three years at Wake before he decided go pro after his junior year at in the Demon Deacon program.
Now, the younger Green is receiving attention from colleges himself. "Wesley recieves a lot of mail from all the majors," his coach Vann Brackin said. "To date, Wake, FSU, Murray State, South Florida, [and] Alabama are the schools that have shown the most interest."
However, his coach notes that "many schools are taking a 'wait and see' attitude because of his inconsistency and lazy approach to the game."
Last season, Wesley averaged an impressive 18.8 points per game for the Eustis Panthers. He also contributed 10.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.
While his coach notes the inconsistency of Green's game, he also notes the potential Green has. "He has very good skills for a big guy and could be a dominant force if he decides to work." "He will be a challenge for any coach," continued his coach, but "he is a very likable kid..."
Overall, is sounds like the physical tools may be there for Green, but the work ethic is not at this time. If he can get some motivation Green may have what it takes to play high-major college basketball.
Stay tuned to DeaconSports as we will continue to follow Wesley Green's recruitment throughout the year.
