Patterson Holds Wake Forest Offer

Patrick Patterson, who claims a Wake Forest scholarship offer spoke to Evan Daniels, of, about the upcoming season and his recent recruitment.

Patrick Patterson, of Huntington, WV., is getting ready to start practice with his high school team. But the 6-foot-8, 234-pounder has been in the gym working pretty hard to prepare.

Every other day, the past five weeks Patterson has been at the local YMCA working on his post moves, his jumpshot, and his ball handling. After averaging 14 points and 12 boards a game last year Patterson hopes to improve his averages and help his team win state again.

"We should win state this year. We won state last year," Patterson, of Huntington High School, said.

The class of 2007 power forward put up relatively good numbers his sophomore season and after a pretty good summer he began hearing from a number of schools.

"Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Wake Forest, Oregon, Florida, Miami, Illinois just started calling me and I guess Kentucky," Patterson said when asked which schools were recruiting him.

He's already seen the campuses of West Virginia, Wake Forest, NC State, Virginia Tech, and Tennessee. And Patterson has received scholarship offers from West Virginia, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Florida, Miami, and Georgia.

Patterson spoke about Wake Forest and said that he liked the facilities and the proximity of Wake Forest.

"I like the coaching staff and the atmosphere down there. My family lives down there and they are only like an hour away. I like the gym and the facilities there."

While Patterson isn't in any kind of hurry to make a decision, he does know exactly what he is looking for in a school.

"The facilities, coaching staff, how they practice, the cafeteria, dorm rooms, and the academics they have to offer," Patterson said of what he is searching for. "And where I fit on the roster, I don't have to start but I want to get some PT."
